Katie Carguilo — Beyond the bar

All CoLab: Paris 'coffeetalks' - by speakers such as Klaus Thomsen, Katie Carguilo and Morten Münchow - were produced by our content partner Tamper Tantrum. We'll be releasing the videos of these talks over the next months so we keep fuelling discussion and building an inventory of knowledge. Don't hesitate to share your comments, thoughts or any additional reading links.

We've already come to the third talk from CoLab: Paris, and we're really happy to bring Katie Carguilo on stage as well as to y'all!  Starting as a barista in coffee in 2002, passing onto barista training, Katie is now Quality Analyst for Counter Culture's roastery in California - slowly getting closer to her aspiration of becoming a green buyer. Through her various roles and extensive experience in coffee, as well as her track record in competition (Katie is 2012 US barista champion), Katie has become a humble yet expert coffee professional who aims to improve the quality of coffee throughout the supply chain.

Having been in coffee for over 13 years, Katie takes us on a journey through her career and the challenges she's faced along the way. She teaches us to keep aiming for our goals, with positivity and a humble lesson to be 'comfortable with the uncomfortable'.
